Hello Families,
I will be posting materials and suggestions for weekly learning activities you can use at home as well as links to favorite apps and websites you may find helpful to support the activities. A new page will be added each week, and labeled with that week's dates to help with staying organized. If at any point, you have questions or would like me to review your student's work, please send me an email. We can video conference, or you can send me a picture of their work to review.
Please remember that the expectation is NOT that you recreate a classroom in your home. Students are being asked to aim for an hour (combined) of literacy and numeracy activities with 30 minutes of reading and 30 minutes of physical activity (when possible).
I fully understand that this will look different in every home and that you will all do the best you can given the circumstances. Some days you may do less and some days more, depending on your own at-home work schedule and the needs of the other members of your family, including younger and older siblings. That being said, this time does not have to be all at once. You can break up tasks into smaller chunks of time that fit within your own schedule. I will be finding this just as much of a challenge as you so we're all in it together!
Most importantly, I want you to remember to leave your guilt at the door. Our own mental and emotional well-being, as well as that of our children, is of the utmost importance right now. Some of you, I know, will be dealing with a whole lot of added stress. If you're having a moment (or a day), take a break (it won't hurt the kids!). Do a little extra physical activity as a family, get outside and get some fresh air. Maintain connections with friends and family virtually when it all gets to be too much.
You can send me a message and I will get back to you as quickly as I can. If you would like to schedule a weekly check-in, please let me know, otherwise, I am here for you and your student to ask questions. I am only an email away.
I hope you find this site useful and I look forward to working with you and your children to continue their learning at home. Let our new learning world BEGIN!
Yours in Education,
Mme Culligan
